Sketching animals was a childhood passion inspired by my mother and grandfather, both artists. I attended elementary school in Atlanta, and moved with my family to rural northeastern North Carolina when I was 12 years old. It was an excellent opportunity to experience the outdoors in a way that most city kids don't get a chance to do. My brothers and I spent time fishing and hunting. As a result of those early years in North Carolina, it deepened my desire and inspired me to express myself through art.

I attended a North Carolina community college for commercial art. Upon completion of college, I returned to Atlanta and was employed as an advertising artist for two Atlanta newspapers—the Atlanta Journal Constitution and The Gwinnett Daily News. I continued to work on and develop my nature and wildlife art, progressing from sketching to painting.

After The Daily News ceased operations, I launched my graphic design studio. Specializing in advertising design, I have served clients in metropolitan Atlanta and the southeast for the past 20 years. My career has been steadily transitioning from design to my true passion…painting. It is my belief that people enjoy wildlife art because it affords them the opportunity to investigate, to look closely, to gaze at an animal that would otherwise run, disappear or fly from sight. I equally enjoy painting and sketching all types of animals whether it be birds and wildlife, farm animals, or a family pet.

There is something special about painting an animal and capturing that brief moment . I work very hard to bring out the personality of every animal through my art.
